Paint Calculator
Before you or your contractor buy paint, find out exactly how much you’ll need. If more than one room is being painted with the same colour, add up the total square footage.
PLEASE NOTE : These calculations are not intended to give more than a rough estimate. Precise paint needs will vary according to many factors including the application method. These calculations assume a single coat of paint and do not include the ceiling.
Paint Tips
Flat
Flat creates a saturated deep velvety rich finish that absorbs light and reduces the visibility of surface imperfections. It is the best sheen to hide unevenly textured walls, joint seems, old wavy plaster walls, and uneven patching. It is naturally less washable than eggshell or semi-gloss and designed for uses where no sheen is wanted. It’s perfect for ceilings, accent walls, living rooms, dining rooms, and low traffic areas.
Eggshell
Eggshell has a soft low sheen appearance that reflects light slightly more than flat. It easily resists dirt and marring and still hides some imperfections. It is perfect for areas where moderate washability is required. It is often used in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, foyers and hallways.
Semi-Gloss
Semi-gloss is a moderately reflective easy to clean washable finish. It is perfect for areas that commonly encounter moisture, dirt or grease. Semi-gloss is ideal for high traffic areas like busy hallways or high-use rooms like bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens. It is also recommended for areas that encounter impacts like wood trim, cabinets and doors. Semi-gloss finish is sometimes used to highlight a particular element of a room, but keep in mind it will show imperfections.
